You like adventure and travel, right? Most people say ‘yes’ to that very leading rhetorical question.
Now … How long does it take you to travel from your home to the nearest city that’s not your own?
And … How long does it take you to travel from your home to a city you have never been to before?
Do you have estimates in mind?
Whatever they are, according to the Well-travelled road effect you are likely to underestimate the duration taken to traverse oft-traveled routes and you are likely to overestimate of the duration taken to traverse less familiar routes.
Think about how long it takes you to get to your local airport and how much time you give yourself and think about how much time It takes to get to an airport you’ve never been to before …
If we could always feel like we are traveling, we might always be on-time … Well … maybe …
